Russian visa
General visa information Visitors from most countries will need a visa. The Consular Section of the Russian Embassy issues different categories of visas to Russia based upon the purpose of the trip and the duration of stay in Russia.
Conditional to the type of the visa you are applying for it can be issued single, double or multiple entries:
- A single entry visa allows you to enter Russian Federation once during the validity of the visa. When you have left the country the visa is no longer valid and you would be required to reapply for another visa.
- Double entry visa means that you can leave the Russian Federation and enter it once again during the validity of the visa issued.
- A multiple entry visa allows you to enter/leave the Russian Federation several times during the validity of the visa.
Citizens of the EU countries need to provide an insurance policy for the whole period of stay in Russia while applying for a visa.
Citizens of non-EU countries as well as the UK, should also provide proof of legality of their stay in Poland (Resident card valid more than 90 days) when applying for a visa.
Processing time, requirements and fees are subject to change without notice. Along with the visa fees there is a service charge of the 25€ applicable per visa application if you submit your applications to the Russian Visa Centre.
A visa can be issued only if an applicant submits all the required documents. Submission of an incomplete set of documents may result in refusal of visa. The issue of Russian visas is discretionary and depends on examination of each individual case, including purpose of visit and intention to return.
Visa processing fee is not refundable.
The Consular Department reserves the right to consider visa applications in certain cases as long as it feels necessary. Visa can be denied if the Consular Department has serious reasons to believe that an applicant's entry into or stay in Russia will not be desirable.
Applicants can be called for an interview and asked questions on personal, financial, business, corporate related issues as well as on applicant's Russian contacts and relatives.
